Music Therapy
What is music therapy?
Music therapy is an established practice that uses music as a tool to create space for communication, connection, creativity and expression. It can help to support and improve cognitive functioning, motor skills and identity, positive impact on and can have aphysical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing. The power of the therapeutic process lies in the musical relationship and is based on participation and collaboration.
Who is music therapy for?
Music therapy is for everyone. You don't need to have any musical experience to participate or benefit from it.

How does it work?
My music therapy practice is person and music-centered. This means I make music with clients in whatever way they are able, using voice and a range of instruments to communicate, connect and cultivate musical companionship. It is very much a collaborative process involving a combination of improvised music, familiar songs and songwriting.

Songwriting
Songs I have written have been featured on networks such as Netflix, Amazon and MTV. I write with independent artists around the world and also release music myself. Throughout my life, songwriting has been a way for me to process my thoughts and feelings as well as make sense of the world around me - it can be a helpful tool for reflection, self-expression and creativity. I only found the courage to start sharing songs with family, friends and the world in my late 30's - it's never too late to have a go! Feel free to have a listen to a small selection of them below.
Television
My career background is in television with over 15 years experience as a presenter, live host and voiceover artist in the UK and Asia Pacific. I had an incredible time working across a variety of genres including children’s, music, film, history, travel, sport and corporate, hosting programmes and events for networks and companies such as the BBC (CBBC, CBeebies, BBC1, BBC2, BBC Worldwide), ITV, Discovery, HBO, ESPN, Channel News Asia and RBS. It was a privilege to learn, share and grow from meeting and working with creative and talented people from different cultures across the world.
My passion for music and communication drives my work, the common thread being
the power of human connection.

Music therapy sessions are as unique as each client that attends and tailored to meet the health and wellbeing needs of the individual or group.
Private sessions can be arranged in various settings including community spaces, schools, care homes and day services. At-home sessions are also possible.
Following an initial phone consultation, introductory session and assessment (if required), we will discuss and formulate therapeutic goals to work towards. The number of sessions varies according to the client's need. However, a block of 6 to 10 regular sessions is recommended initially, each lasting between 30-45 minutes.
I welcome self-referrals as well as referrals from parents, guardians, teachers and health care professionals.
